GNU Emacs Workshop

Dear Students,

the fhLUG is pleased to present a workshop about the extensible, customizable, self-documenting, real-time display editor: GNU Emacs.

GNU Emacs is the GNU project’s incarnation of the class of Emacs text editors. Emacs can help boost productivity for programmers, publishers and everyone who expects extensible, customizable and advanced text manipulation and editing features from their editor environment.

The workshop session will start with a very brief tour of some of the ideas behind Emacs. An introduction will then be carried which will show how to achieve common text editing tasks in Emacs. Following will be the discussion of more advanced and unique features (the nice part!). Finally, a tour of some interesting Emacs modes and config file tips and tricks if time permits.
